Mr. Fleming discuss the night’s events with NEW Eagle Scouts Ty Cobb, and Wade Cline. The boys met the Eagle Board of Review separately Tuesday night at Covenant United Methodist Church in Cordova, Tn.
Ty’s project consisted of collecting funds and purchasing small personal items for soldiers based in Iraq and Afghanistan. He worked with a Washington state based charity which served as the focal point for distributing items to US troops. Ty is currently a senior at ECS, and plans on attending Western Kentucky University in 2011, majoring in Photo Journalism. Ty is the third brother who has received the Eagle badge while in Troop 368. His brothers Nick, and Greg Cobb received their Eagle badges in 2001, and 2004, respectively. Ty is the son of Byron and Harriet Cobb.
Wade’s project involved raising funds to enhance the Collierville Animal Shelter, building a feral cat shelter and dog houses, ensuring animals enjoyed a better place to live while at the Shelter. Wade is a senior at SBG, and intends on attending Southwest Community College for a year before heading to another university. Wade is the son of Dave and Laura Cline.
Please congratulate both boys for this achievement. Ty and Wade both indicate how enriching the trail from Tenderfoot to Eagle has been, how fast it went, and are grateful to the many Troop 368 leaders who have encouraged them, assisted them, and been there as a guiding light along the way. Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers – the Dads and Moms who help the boys in all ways.
The BSA indicates that only 3 percent of all boys who join Scouting ever achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Ty and Wade plan on having an Eagle Court of Honor, the date to be announced.
